I think
that spirituality, religion, and faith are all related but not the same. The
way I see it, the three have a triangular relationship, because any of the
three can influence the other two. I relate spirituality more to nature. I
think religion is more general and group oriented. Faith is more of a personal
aspect that you decide for your own self.
I relate
to faith the most. Religion would come second for me. I was raised Catholic, but
I don’t necessarily follow all of the aspects of Catholicism. That is where I go
by my own faith and what I believe in.
My views
concerning spirituality, religion, and faith have not really changed since I come
to USC. I have always been pretty accepting of other religions and beliefs. The
way I think about it is, if people respect me and my religion then I will pay
them the same respect and do the same. Why would I go and try to change their
beliefs when I hate people trying to shove their beliefs down my throat? I would
never want someone to do that to me, so I would not go and put someone else in
that position.
My views
of spirituality and religion have helped me at Hand Middle School, because it
has helped me be accepting of all opinions that I have encountered. I may not
always agree with my mentee’s thoughts, but I can accept them for what they
are. In return, I can give them my opinion and let them think about it and make
their own decisions.
My
Thanksgiving went very well. There was so much food enough for everyone to take
three plates and leftovers for the next day. I was thankful for that, but I was
most thankful for being able to get into college and all of the hard work my
parents put into getting me here.
